Pretty Girls Klondike Solitaire PLUS (PS4) Review

Following the same formula, overall presentation, and gameplay loop of the previous games in the Pretty Girls series, Pretty Girls Klondike Solitaire PLUS is classic solitaire only with a PG-rated anime girl in the bottom corner of the screen.

You know that Microsoft Solitaire game that is installed on your computer? This game follows that same ruleset only with a couple differences. First, the anime babe theme. Do not think dirty because these static drawings are nothing more than PG rated here on the PS4 version. By clearing each girl’s difficulty level, in which there are three, a new outfit and background becomes available. If you want, you can access the “dressing room” option from the main menu but all this does is allow the player to make an anime girl appear in whatever outfit, standing in front of whatever background. It is an entirely passive and pointless experience.

The only other gimmick comes form the optional special abilities. If you get stuck, the Shuffle, Expose, Undo, and Hint options can be used. Keep in mind, these extras have limited uses and decrease in quantity with the higher the difficulty. The option to draw 1 card or draw 3 cards is also a nice feature to have.

This is an EastAsiaSoft game and their reputation applies with this low cost digital release… and I am talking about easy Trophies. It takes about three minutes to clear each stage that has a Trophy so it took well under an hour to obtain the Platinum – trophy hunters will want to take note. Thankfully, there are online leaderboards so there is some replay value. Leaderboards post the highest scores. To get a higher score, stages need to be cleared in the shortest amount of time.

Klondike Solitaire PLUS is no better or worse than the other games in this long running series. Even though it is pretty tasteless, I don’t know, it is still Solitaire. And everyone loves Solitaire as it is sort of this relaxing, casual game. Only this EastAsiaSoft published game has a different overall look and tone in comparison to Microsoft’s widely available version.
