November 8th, 2011. A day that will live forever in video game history.
Why?
Because a highly anticipated game based around everything from guns, items, war, stealth, story, and action was released for the first time in all HD glory. Promising hours of nothing but the highest entertainment value, who needs a modern war when you can travel back to experience the past of the greatest soldier that ever lived?
Like everyone else on planet Earth, I was super excited when I heard the news that Konami was going to be releasing the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection. I was so excited in fact that I pre-ordered the Limited Edition at my local Gamestop. So when I arrived at my Gamestop around 12:10am on November 8th, 2011, I was happy to see a strong turnout of 300 people waiting in line to experience Snake’s best adventures remastered with Trophy support and high res visuals.
Here in the Chicagoland area, midnight actually created some pretty terrible weather. Heavy rain and cold winds made it uncomfortable to wait outside, but I was more than willing to show my dedication to Mr. Kojima’s creations. Waiting in line with fellow MGS fans kept me warm.
After waiting in line for what seemed like forever, I proudly walked out the Gamestop with my Limited Edition MGS HD Collection in hand.
On my way out of the store, however, I couldn’t help but notice more than a few strange glances from other people waiting in line… I couldn’t tell for sure but apparently there was some other war based game that was released that day too as some promotional dude handed me a poster with the initials “MW3” on it. I wasn’t sure what it meant, but I thought it made a nice umbrella for my Metal Gear. It was raining after all and didn’t want any harm to come to it.
