Going Digital –
Nintendo has just revealed their Platinum and Gold rewards for 2014. Unfortunately, this year is a bit of a letdown because all gifts are digital as opposed to the cool and collectable figures, hats, and posters from previously rewards. In summary, Platinum members get to choose from a wider variety of digital downloads for Wii U and 3DS over Gold members.
Gold members can choose from:
-Ice Climber, Wii U Virtual Console
-Kid Icarus, Wii U Virtual Console
-Super Mario Bros, Wii U Virtual Console
-Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, Wii U Virtual Console
-Donkey Kong 3, 3DS Virtual Console
-Warioland II, 3DS Virtual Console
-Metroid, 3DS Virtual Console
-Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins, 3DS Virtual Console
Platinum members can choose from all the Gold title plus the following:
-Game & Wario, Wii U eShop
-NES Remix, Wii U eShop
-Earthbound, Wii U Virtual Console
-Dr. Luigi, Wii U eShop
-Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D, 3DS eShop
-Fluidity Spin Cycle, 3DS eShop
-Dillon’s Rolling Western, 3DS eShop
-Mario and Donkey Kong: Minis on the Move, 3DS eShop
It is also twice as disappointing because most of these games have already been a part of the Club Nintendo monthly program. Further, none of the GBA Virtual Console games on the Wii U are a part of this program. Even newer games, like NES Remix 2, are not part of this program.
The disappointment might have been eased at least a little bit if Platinum members were able to download two games instead of one.
Gold status requires 300 Coins over the span of one year whereas Platinum members must reach over 600 Coins. Learn more about the program HERE.
