BLOG – Club Nintendo October 2014 Summary

Preparing for Holiday 2014 –

Although many games available this month have been a part of the Club Nintendo program before, there are definitely some winners here. It is a little strange to NOT see the original N64 Smash Bros available on the Wii Virtual Console given the launch success of the 3DS version and the Wii U version a month away, but there are plenty of titles here worthy of your Coins.

wrecking_crew_wiiuGame #1 – Wrecking Crew (NES on Wii U Virtual Console)
Price – 200 Coins, normally $4.99
Availability – October 13, 2014 – November 16, 2014
Summary – Before Mario and Luigi were platforming plumbers they tried their hand in demolition.
Worth Your Club Nintendo Coins? – This very early NES game doesn’t hold up well today. If you played through NES Remix, there really is no reason to play this 1985 original black box release.

kirbys_dream_course_wiiuGame #2 – Kirby’s Cream Course (SNES on Wii U Virtual Console)
Price – 200 Coins, normally $7.99
Availability – October 13, 2014 – November 16, 2014
Summary – Kirby puts an interesting twist on golf.
Worth Your Club Nintendo Coins? Kirby has always been in creative games and Dream Course is no exception. Although the challenge can be frustrating high at times, this is a still a SNES gem (especially for 200 Coins – get this before Wrecking Crew).

zodas_revengeGame #3 – Zoda’s Revenge: Star Tropics II (NES on Wii Virtual Console)
Price – 200 Coins, normally 500 Wii Points ($5)
Availability – October 13, 2014 – November 16, 2014
Summary – The sequel to the forgotten and neglected Star Tropics series is another challenging NES title.
Worth Your Club Nintendo Coins? – Still better off going with Kirby’s Dream Course this month.

maboshiGame #4 – Maboshi’s Arcade (WiiWare)
Price – 250 Coins, normally 800 Wii Points
Availability – October 13, 2014 – November 16, 2014
Summary – An original Wii download that uses motion control up to 3 players simultaneously.
Worth Your Club Nintendo Coins? – This creative title has been a part of the Club Nintendo program in the past and stands as the original Wii download this month. The higher price of 250 Coins could be worth it if you are looking for something different; just be aware that the Nintendo WiFi functionality is no longer live.

kersploosh_3dsGame #5 – Kersploosh! (3DS eShop)
Price – 150 Coins, normally $2.99
Availability – October 13, 2014 – November 16, 2014
Summary – Drop a stone down a well and try and reach the bottom with obstacles in the way.
Worth Your Club Nintendo Coins? – It only costs 150 Coins for this eShop exclusive.

brain_age_express_math_3dsGame #6 – Brain Age Express Math (DSiWare on 3DS eShop)
Price – 200 Coins, normally $7.99
Availability – October 13, 2014 – November 16, 2014
Summary – Learn yourself some math.
Worth Your Club Nintendo Coins? – If you like edutainment, I guess this might whet your whistle.

3d_classics_kid_icarusGame #7 – 3D Classics: Kid Icarus (3DS eShop)
Price – 200 Coins, normally
Availability – October 13, 2014 – November 16, 2014
Summary – Experiences Pit’s original journey in 3D and a modern day save system.
Worth Your Club Nintendo Coins? – 3D Classics: Kid Icarus was a part of the Club Nintendo back in July. If you missed it then (or even the time before that) you owe it to yourself to play though this classics especially if you play as Pit in Smash Bros.

donkey_kongGame #8 – Donkey Kong (NES on 3DS Virtual Console)
Price – 150 Coins, normally $3.99
Availability – October 13, 2014 – November 16, 2014
Summary – Not to be confused with the arcade original, Donkey Kong ’94 is actually a puzzle platform unique to the original Gameboy.
Worth Your Club Nintendo Coins? – Yes! This is one of the best DK games ever made and is only 150 Coins. Get it!
