10 Seconds to Win! is another low cost, easy Achievement point 2D platformer published by EastAsiaSoft. It took me about 10 minutes to earn all the Achievements and almost double that to clear all the stages.
Its brevity shouldn’t be confused with low quality, however. While it lacks replay value, the short-burst gameplay is mindlessly fun while it lasts.
Playing as an Ash Ketchum knockoff, it is your job to reach to the end of each stage within the 10 seconds time limit. Besides jumping, players have access to a dash move that not only provides a good acceleration boost, it allows for large gaps to the crossed. Along the way are spikes, which can kill you even if you bump into the side of them, and spinning blades. You know, the typical platforming hazards.
The difficulty is also on the lower side. Mixed with the quick 10-second based gameplay, the game moves at a super quick speed. Before you know it, you’ll be at the end with all Cheevos unlocked.
The simple pixel presentation also gets the job done but isn’t outstanding by any means. In fact, the spinning blade traps do not even look menacing or dangerous. The one looping techno musical track is fitting for the quick gameplay but there just isn’t any variety, also aligning with the gameplay.
Without any optional collectables or leaderboards, there is no reason to keep playing once your have breezed through all the stages. But the responsive control, simple gameplay, and fast pace of play justifies the few dollars it costs to download this tiny game.
